Celestial
Ministries School of Fine Arts: Living the dream through the arts
PERFORMANCES AND
EVENTS
Celestial
Ministries students participate in public performances, annual programs,
and parades. Celestial Ministries also receives invitations from
churches, community organizations, and city officials to perform for
local events. Students should make every effort to attend these events
for the experience and for the exposure of the program.
Martin Luther
King Day Program
The Martin
Luther King Day “Living the Dream Through the Arts” is our annual public
performance for the community to celebrate the legacy of Dr. King and to
raise support for the School of Fine Arts. Students are required to
participate and parents, guardians, and friends are strongly encouraged
to attend. Last year, State Representative Art Turner and other
community leaders came to show their support for the program.
Awards Ceremony
This year
Celestial Ministries will begin having awards ceremonies at the end of
each session. Students will be recognized for their achievements in
academics, music, leadership, and character. Certificates will be given
to every student who faithfully attends the School of Fine Arts. Parents
and guardians are strongly urged to attend.
Back to School
Picnic
Every September,
Celestial Ministries hosts a back-to-school picnic in Douglas Park for
our students. All students enrolled in the School of Fine Arts will
receive a backpack with school supplies. Families are invited to come
and enjoy an afternoon of food, fun, and fellowship.
Parades
Celestial
Ministries has been involved in numerous parades around Chicago. Last
summer, Celestial
Ministries
students participated in the Say No to Drugs Parade, the Bud Billiken
Parade, and the Alderman Chandler Back to School Parade in North
Lawndale. Celestial Ministries pays for the entry costs and float fees.
Celestial Ministries students are encouraged to participate in all
parades. It is up to each student to inform Celestial Ministries staff
of physical or medical conditions that would disqualify them from
participation. These students are still required to attend Saturday
classes though they are not required to attend extra parade practices.
Parent/guardian consent forms must be turned in to Antoinette before the
day of the parade for a student to participate. Parents/guardians are
invited to march in parades and help supply water and food for the
children.
